Before that Sunday morning paper hits our driveway, Angel and I are traveling some old scenic byway.
Look in the backseat, our little sleepy heads still dream of yesterday.
Soon they'll wake up smiling, cause it's Angel's Sunday.
Angel and I sit closer than a pair of lovebirds, we share a cup of coffee sweet by her love words.
Here comes the sunshine, the joys of our life are airing to run and play, my the happiness they add to Angel's Sunday.
Sure I could still be alive in bed, I read that paper in the den.
Hookin' and a-slicin' that little white ball with my golfing buddies, loosin' ten.
But I love Angel and the kids too much to start the week that way, nothing's more important than our Angel's Sunday.
Angel taught me the art of loving one another, we share our ups and downs and evens with each other.
An angel on earth, or at least to me, she lives her life that way.
Angel more than me deserves an Angel's Sunday.
As we load up the car to end our day off of livin', the kids and I kiss Angel's lips with true thanksgivin'.
Look in the backseat, our little sleepy heads yawn as the daylight fades, Monday's never blue.
Because of Angel's Sunday, sure I could still be a-mowin' the lawn, or watchin' the ball game of the day.
Slippin' and a-slidin' in a muddy stream, fussin' at those fish that got away.
But I love Angel and the kids too much to start the week that way, nothing's more important than our Angel's Sunday.
For that Sunday morning, it's our day.
Angel and I are travelin' some old scenic ride, look in the backseat, our little sleepy heads still dream of yesterday, soon they'll wake up smilin' for the day.
