And right on the cover of the newspaper, just like a couple weeks ago,
there was that headline that our government has made it illegal
to keep whales and dolphins in captivity.
Yeah.
One faint whistle.
Yeah.
You don't seem too thrilled about it.
But you know who I think was very disappointed by this news?
Is the monkeys at the Vancouver Aquarium.
There's monkeys.
At the Vancouver Aquarium.
That's not right.
I don't mean like morally.
I mean like in terms of aquarium.
What are they doing there?
I don't think anybody knows.
What I'm saying is that if you go downtown,
there's a small oasis nestled in the woods
where there are no rules.
It does make sense if you know the history of the place,
which is that the aquarium is there because the zoo was there first.
And the way the zoo started was in 1888,
this random guy found a bear and he chained it to a tree downtown.
And he was just like, yeah, this seems pretty educational.
And then a rich lady in West Vancouver was like,
I don't know, I don't know.
I have parakeets.
And she brought her birds down and just put them with the bear.
And then the mayor of Vancouver in 1888,
a man named Frederick Buscombe called a press conference and he was like,
I have a seal at my house.
It's at my house.
The mayor of Vancouver was like,


the mayor of Vancouver was secretly keeping a seal in his home.
This is a different time.
Only white men could vote and I think you can tell.
So he brings the seal down and puts it with the birds and the bear.
And that's how the zoo started as a sort of animal zoo.
It's a little cruelty potluck.
I did that joke at a show recently.
This guy comes up afterwards and he's like, yeah,
that was pretty funny, but there's no monkeys at the aquarium.
I was like, yeah, there are.
Have you been there?
He's like, no.
So I was like,
what are you talking about then?
And he's like, no.


And he just goes, why would there be monkeys at an aquarium?
I'm like,
dude, we're on the same page, but we can never be friends.
