Sheryl Crow's album Threads features not only a bunch of incredible singing collaborators,
but also some amazing songwriters like Bob Dylan, who I know had a huge impact on Sheryl.
And Sheryl sings this one with Jason Isbell. So tell me about Everything is Broken.
Everything is Broken is a Bob Dylan song. And I could not see making an album that's based on
my love for the people who've inspired me my whole life. Those who I've known for a very long time,
those who I was inspired by even as a kid without putting a Bob Dylan song on. And Bob isn't
necessarily one that you call up and collaborate with, although I've had the really good fortune
of collaborating with him a lot live. I've even had the good fortune of him sending me a song
when I was just really going through writer's block. And that changed the trajectory of an
album that I was making and struggling with at the time called The Globe Sessions. So I picked
Everything is Broken. I love the group. It's quintessential Bob talking about everything
that's going on around us.
And I mean, it's kind of a funny take on everything that's going on and it's not going
right. And I asked Jason Isbell. I'm a huge fan of Jason. I've gotten to know him from being on
the Outlaw Tour. The guy is an unbelievable artist, but really kind of an unsung guitar
god. He just, I mean, shredded all the way through it. And I know he's a Dylan fan as well.
So I think it turned out really great. I think Bob actually has heard it and really liked it.
It's Sheryl Crow and Jason Isbell. Everything is Broken off
her new album, Threads.
