I saw a man at the close of the day
Standing by a grocery door
His eyes were sunk and his lips were parched
And I knew him o'er and o'er
His little boy stood by his side
And unto him he said
Father, mother's sick at home
And says goodbye for a break
He turned around, walked through the door
Staggered up to the bar
And up to the wine bar
And said, just give me one last drink
In about a year I passed her by
A crowd stood around the door

The drunkard is no more

The wife and children came
