All these streets of Rome are filled with rubble
Asian footprints are everywhere
You can almost think that you've seen double
On a cold dark night on the Spanish stairs
Got to hurry on back to my hotel room
Where I've got me a date with a pretty little girl from Greece
She promised that she'd ride down with me
When I paint my masterpiece
All the hours I've spent inside the Colosseum
Touching lions and wasting time
Those mighty kings of the jungle
I could hardly stand to see them
It sure has been a long hard climb
Train wheels running through the back of my memory
When I run on the hilltop for a while
Falling up like a wild geese
Someday everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody
When I paint my masterpiece
I left Rome and landed in Brussels
On a plane ride so bumpy that I almost cried
Clutching men in uniform and young girls pulling turtles
Everyone was there to greet me when I stepped inside
Newspaper men eating candy
Had to be held down by the big police
Someday everything is gonna be different
When I paint my masterpiece
Don't run their eyes
Now we hit the road
Riding up in Spain
And talking to поступies
